Even it is something especially you cannot miss in Siem Reap after visiting the Angkor Archaeological area. As the first night market in Cambodia, Night Market was founded in 2007 for the initial purpose of preserving and developing traditional Khmer handicrafts of ancestor as well as creating employment opportunities for the locals. After many years of operation, from the original 100 stalls it increase to 240 shops with the variety of business types, including the shopping and entertainment areas always bustles in colored lights and music. The market founders designed and built it based on the simple and traditional style with a surrounding Balinese themed garden and the bamboo and wood stalls characterizing the Khmer culture.
Night Market is an outstanding place in Siem Reap, where you can explore and experience the great the culinary culture of Cambodia with unique palm wines, enjoy the really relaxed moments in the body & foot massage salons as well as purchase the exquisite crafts as souvenirs, for example silk paintings, wood and stone carvings. There is one ‘Angkor Recycled’ stall to make bags, wallets, purses and pouches by recycled materials to protect the environment. Even a small cinema was built to run documentary movies introducing about scenery, culture and people of Cambodia.
