Located about 10km off the coast of Sihanoukville in southern Cambodia, Koh Russei or Bamboo Island is considered as one of the most worth-exploring islands. It's a small secluded tropical island lying in a group of small islands in the Gulf of Thailand. For many years, Koh Russei was remarkable only as a small naval outpost. Recently, the number of tourists has remarkably increased, contributed to the development of the island. The Beach at Bamboo Island is a great place for people like collecting shells because the water stays shallow for a long ways out in some areas of the beach, which make it easy to find shells there. Otherwise the sand is very coarse and you should bring some kind of shoes to protect your feet. Although Koh Russei is perhaps not as lovely as it once was, it still gives the visitor a rare sense of isolation and tranquility that is so lacking in Sihanoukville. For those with more time on the islands that are bit further away from town may be more satisfying , but for those who are looking for a comfortable beachside without going too far, Koh Russei is a good choice.
